Minutes of January 12, 2010

Present:  Elise Kuder, Christa Patterson, Randy Smith, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings

The minutes of the November meeting were accepted as read.  No meetings were held in December or January.

The budget for this year was discussed briefly and it will once again be level-funded. 

The commission took in $3540 this year from the change of use tax.  Total in the account is now $46,595.18.

Minutes of November 10, 2009

Present:  Christa Patterson, Chris Pratt, Roger Sweet, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

The minutes of the October meeting were accepted as read. 

Christa was the only member able to attend the annual meeting of NH Conservation Commissions.  She attended 4 workshops which included topics such as “small is better”, housing and conservation, open space and invasive species&naturalized planting.

Minutes of October 13, 2009

Present:  Christa Patterson, Roger Sweet, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

Roger presided over the meeting as Chairman Eric White was out of town.

Minutes of the September meeting were approved as read.

The Roxbury Planning Board has approved the cell tower which will be erected on Houghton Ledge.

Eric and Scott Lake have discussed the forest plan for the Town Farm but have yet to meet with the selectmen.

Minutes of September 8, 2009

Present:  Christa Patterson, Chris Pratt, Randy Smith, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the August meeting were approved as read.

The DES wants a 5’ culvert behind the fire station, not on Cross Rd. as was originally thought.  The application has been resubmitted.

There has not been any new information on the Roxbury cell tower.

Minutes of August 11, 2009

Present:  Christa Patterson, Randy Smith, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the June meeting were accepted as read.  There was no July meeting.

Randy said that DES is now requiring that all perennial streams have an open bottom culvert, basically a bridge over them.  This will be extremely expensive for towns.

Minutes of June 9, 2009

Present:  Elise Kuder, Christa Patterson, Chris Pratt, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the May meeting were accepted as read.

A new Intent to Cut was filed for the Hubbard Road property.  After extensive cutting last year there is still more planned.  They will be crossing 7 streams (1 perennial, several intermittent and a culvert).  These were shown on the map submitted with the intent.

Minutes of May 12, 2009

Present:  Jeff Brooks, Christa Patterson, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Chip Woodbury and Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the April meeting were accepted as read.

The recent road clean-up brought in 1,100 pounds of trash.  About 50 people helped and close to 40 attended the lunch that followed.
    Fourteen people went on the historic walk in East Sullivan to learn about the former mill village and then went on to Old Concord Road to hear about the woodworking mills and large farms that had been there.

Minutes of the March meeting were accepted as read.

Beaver Tracks is resubmitting the town culvert permit applications at their cost.

A suggestion was made to have our town hikes put in the Keene Sentinel.  Everyone was in agreement it would be a good idea and Anika Clark (Sullivan’s Sentinel reporter) will be advised of them as they are planned.

Minutes of March 17, 2009

Present:  Michelle Degree, Elise Kuder, Christa Patterson, Chris Pratt, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the February meeting were accepted as read.

    Eric purchased a Kill-A-Watt monitor for the library.  He got one that was a grade above the $30 model for $40. 
    The group discussed coal burning vs. wood burning.  Coal (a fossil fuel) increases carbon in the atmosphere whereas wood does not, although it isn’t pollution free.

    The minutes of the December meeting were approved as read.  There was no meeting in January.
    Sullivan’s hazardous waste disposal program with the Keene Recycling Center was renewed for the coming year as was our membership in the NH Association of Conservation Commissions.
