SULLIVAN CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Sullivan Town Hall
April 17, 2018

Present:  Jim McByrne, Wendy Pelletier, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Chip Woodbury and Becky Cummings.  Present as guest speakers were Amanda Littleton, District Manager of the Cheshire County Conservation District in Walpole and John Snowdon, the District’s Supervisor for Sullivan.  Also present were Leslie Casey and Ann Sweet from the Planning Board.

Amanda and John’s presentation gave an overview of what the Cheshire Country Conservation District offers for the community.  It is primarily concerned with 4 things;
Soil Health
Water Quality
Improvement of Wildlife Habitat
Keeping Farms Viable

Their projects, mainly funded through grant dollars, include but are not limited to plant and seed sales, farm equipment rentals, skidder bridge rentals and soil surveys.  Landowners, both large and small, are encouraged to visit them for assistance.   Assorted brochures about their services were passed around and they plan to put articles in the Sullivan Newsletter from time to time.

At the conclusion of their presentation, the commission held a very short meeting.  The minutes from the March meeting were approved as read.  Food for town clean-up day on May 5th was briefly discussed.  Also, because so many conservation members attend the Tuesday night concerts at Apple Hill in the summer, it was agreed to change the meeting nights to the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings,
Clerk
