Minutes of April 8, 2014

Present: Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder, Chip Woodbury and Becky Cummings.

The minutes of the March meeting were accepted as read.

Another meeting on the proposed changes to Route 9 west of Centre St. will be held this week, April 10 at 7 pm at the Town Hall.

Eric received and submitted a bill for Ashuelot River water testing.

The conservation and energy committees will host a presentation at the Town Hall on June 10 at 7 pm given by Eric White on his rescue and renovation of an 1830’s Cape, which has now been awarded an Energy Star.  The public is invited.

Hazardous Waste disposal was discussed.  Eric is not sure if the Keene Recycling Center received their grant or not.  If not, the commission’s annual bill will increase but it was provided for in the 2014 budget.

Hilliare sent an aerial digital picture of Ellis Reservoir to Mary Hull to keep for next year’s town report.

Hilliare also checked with the NH Association of Conservation Commissions to see if they had supported the recent bottle bill and what our commission could do in the future.  He learned from Nick Coates that it is not in their by-laws to do so but we could do it in our area when and if it arises again.  Tom Duston of Chesterfield is our local board representative to the NH Association and Hilliare wondered if we might like to invite him to speak with us at a future meeting.  Perhaps Duston would know what the proposed “enhanced recycling” is about.

Randy Smith filed an intent to cut in March as did NH Fish&Game in January.  Cuts on the Alexander and Kinson properties are in question.

Becky said dessert type finger food and side dishes would be needed for town clean-up day.  She will send out a reminder to everyone.

Meeting adjourned at 8:09 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
