Minutes of August 13, 2013

Present:  Randy Smith, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.  Also attending:  Ann McBride of The Monadnock Conservancy and Henry “Butch” Brooks.

Eric took a moment to recognize Christa Patterson for her dedication to our community, her concern for the land, its history and its future and her endless enthusiasm for sharing her passion for growing anything green.  Randy suggested she might be memorialized somewhere in town and Roger wondered about the land off Martin Court.

Ann spoke about the proposed conservation easement on the Henry Brooks/Linda Brown property on South Road which is on both sides of the road.  The easement would allow forestry and agriculture to take place on the land and non-commercial recreation but no subdivisions. Currently there are two homes on the property which will remain.  She made a request for $8,000 from the Commission.  This would come from the Sullivan Conservation Fund.

Eric made a motion to contribute $8,000 from the Sullivan Conservation Fund toward The Monadnock Conservancy transaction costs of the conservation easement donation of the Henry Brooks and Linda Brown properties.  The motion passed unanimously.

Becky made a motion to have Ann, Eric and Henry present the easement proposal to the Sullivan Selectmen. The motion passed unanimously.

Eric read a questionnaire that he recently received from Southwestern Regional Planning.  He will complete it and return it to them.

Gilsum School sent a note of thanks for the Commission’s support last year with Harris Center programs.

Meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
