Minutes of August 14, 2012

Present:  Christa Paterson, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Randy Smith and Hilliare Wilder

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm. There was no vote to accept the minutes of the July meeting.  This will take place at the next meeting.

There was a discussion and vote passed to contribute the usual $500 to the Harris Center for a naturalist educator to go to the Gilsum School, if a curriculum can be designed for this coming school year.
Roger is still waiting to hear from ERI about the samples of dead Elm trees he sent them.  If they are found to have been infected with, and died from Dutch Elm Disease, then they will be replaced at no charge.

Roger is going to put a statement in the news letter reminding anyone working near or in water courses or wetlands that a DES permit may be required.

The Contract for the timber harvest in the Town Forest has been signed by the Trustees and Selectmen.  Work may start by the end of August.  The logger will place some kind of protection over the culvert pipe to help distribute any load on the old culvert.  Eric will try to pin down a date for the timber harvest tour by the news letter deadline.

Energy news:  Library trustees and friends of the library met to discuss having the lighting upgraded to a more energy efficient system.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Eric White
