Minutes of December 11, 2012

Present:  Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder, Chip Woodbury&Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the October meeting were accepted as read.  There was no meeting in November.

Ralph Jernberg of Gilsum would like the conservation commissions from both towns to get together to meet and discuss a town line perambulation (overdue), etc.

The commission‘s budget proposal will remain the same as last year, keeping the money in for elementary school conservation education even though we don’t know which school students will be attending.

The timber harvest on the Town Farm was a success, bringing in about $27,000 to be put into the Trust Fund.  Forester Swift Corwin is very happy with the cut.  He and his men did an excellent job improving the eroded road with water bars and ditches, seeding landings, replacing a wall and clearing and grassing around the Monument.  A section of tar on the side of the fire department’s pavement was thought to have been disturbed but it was actually never part of the original paving.  It was excess tar that was dropped there when Parker’s driveway was paved.

Randy Smith must get another permit from DES in order to begin work on the Ferry Brook Road Bridge.  Part of the stream needs to be cleaned out before the bridge can be constructed.

The area snowmobile club brought in an excavator to smooth up and clear trails in the Piper and Olsen lots.  Unfortunately, they have not put in any drainage so trails will most likely revert to the eroded condition once again when spring and summer arrive.

Meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
