Minutes of March 10, 2010

Present:  Christa Patterson, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Chip Woodbury and Becky Cummings

Minutes of the February meeting were accepted as read.

Eric would like to meet with the trustees of trust funds and the selectmen concerning the town forest plan.  If no one has accepted the positions available for trustees of trust funds, he will meet with the selectmen to see if they can begin planning a management program.

Roger&Ann Sweet and Eric&Deb White have the NRI almost ready for proof-reading.  Eric will also get sample covers together for members to comment on and choose from.

Eric said nature journals will be coming soon and then he hopes to have guided bird and tracking walks for the community.  A wildflower walk is also in the works as well as others on the protected lands in town.  It would also be interesting to have people keep track of the various birds they have at their feeders.

There has not been any new information on town perambulations.  People are waiting for things to dry out.

Two applications were submitted for the energy grant program, one for the library and the other for the town barn.  The town barn received a grant for an outside furnace.  Insulation will still be needed and costs on that have yet to be determined.

Becky suggested some of the land use change tax money be used in some town buildings for heat conservation, as suggested in the energy audits.

Roger will lead a hike on May 9th for the Harris Center to Otter Brook Falls.

It was noted that the vernal pools near Sullivan School are filling in with weeds, etc.

Meeting adjourned at 7:56 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
