Minutes of March 20, 2018

SULLIVAN CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Sullivan Town Hall
March 20, 2018

Present:  Jim McByrne, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

The minutes of the February meeting were accepted as read.

Ginni McByrne submitted her letter of resignation from the commission.  It was accepted with regret.

The money from the land use change tax at the cell tower location has been received and deposited into proper accounts.  The commission’s share of this is $8,750.

Eric received word from Amanda Little, District Manager of Cheshire County Conservation District, that she and John Snowdon, Sullivan’s representative, would like to come and speak about their services, etc. to the commission in April, if possible.  Those present thought the date sounded good.  Eric will contact the other members as well as the planning board, to see if they might be interested.

Two reports of Intents to Cut have come back stating no cuts were made.  These were from Sheila Smith (Ferry Brook Rd.) and Lakeville Shores (Bowlder Rd.).

Notice was received from Eversource that they will be working in wetland areas off Valley Road and Tyler Lane.  NH DES is aware and has signed off on the work.

Eric has not heard anything from Leslie Casey (Planning Board) concerning the violations on the cell tower property.

Eric sent members of the commission a draft of policy guidelines, drawn up in 2000, with respect to the public use of the Winch Town Forest.  Jim Casey, Trustee of Trust Funds, has asked the commission to look it over and make suggestions for updates.  Eric thinks 1D could be removed, “Off limits to wheeled vehicles except for retrieving game, if the road conditions are stable”.  Much discussion followed concerning hunting, trapping, wheeled-vehicles, dogs and general use of the land by the public.  The subject of the guidelines will be brought up again at a later meeting, when more people are in attendance.

Meeting adjourned 8:21 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
