Minutes of May 10, 2010

Present:  Christa Patterson, Randy Smith, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder, Chip Woodbury and Becky Cummings.

The minutes of the April meeting were accepted as read.

Once again town clean-up was a success with more that 40 townspeople cleaning and over 30 who came to the town hall for lunch.

Bill&Grace Brolin are willing to paint the cannon balls around the Civil War Monument if the town provides the paint.  Chip mentioned using the park behind the monument more – perhaps for a town cook-out a few times during the summer.  This and a workshop on woodlots will be discussed more at the next meeting.

Eric gave out CD copies of the NRI for members to review.  The committee also looked over possible pictures to use on the cover and one was chosen.  The other pictures are excellent and could make nice note cards, posters, etc.

Eric is planning to meet with Barbara Atwood and Butch Brooks (Trustees of Trust Funds) about management plans for the town forest.  The trails there need to be cleaned up and it shouldn’t take more than a half day or so.  Culvert replacement will be done after the logging operation.

Perambulation of the Nelson/Sullivan town line will take place next Sunday. Randy, Eric, the Sweets and Bob Switzer from Sullivan are planning to go.

Eric read a letter from the DES saying that the Ashuelot River Advisory Board needs a Sullivan member.

Contracts for the grant received for the town barn have yet to be written although most everything seems to be in place.  Guidelines for wages are supposed to follow the Davis-Bacon rules which are very out of date.

Roger gave a report from the Energy Committee and asked members to be aware of the regional energy planning efforts in the area by Antioch, SW Regional Planning and Cool Monadnock.

Meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
