Minutes of October 11, 2011

Present: Christa Patterson, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder, Chip Woodbury and Becky Cummings.

The minutes of the September meeting were approved with the following correction:  “Preliminary approval was expedited by DES for the Ketola property on Centre St.  Final approval is pending”.

The commission’s annual budget was discussed and all present approved a $200 increase over last year.  Line items are: $175 for annual membership dues in NH Association of Conservation Commissions, $500 for youth education, $150 for training, $675 for hazardous waste and roadside clean up and $200 for water testing for a total of $1700.

Duncan Watson (Keene Recycling Center) will be contacted to find out how many people from Sullivan actually make use of the hazardous waste disposal days.

Roger gave a brief report from the Energy Committee.  Ann&Roger Sweet and Rick Hotchkiss had a conference call with Kevin Morrison of ARC in Belmont, VT to discuss the most recent proposal for the town barn furnace.   This should be resolved soon.  The library windows have been re-glazed and new storm windows installed.   Matching funds for this were provided by the Friends of the Sullivan Library and the town.

Eric contacted Swift Corwin, Town Farm forester.  It is too late to plan on a cut for this year.  Fortunately, the culvert that is in place there is fine and does not have to be replaced soon.

A reminder was given about the Oct. 29 hike through Piper & Olsen Forests.

Meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
