Minutes of October 9, 2012

Present: Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder, Chip Woodbury and Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the September meeting were accepted as read.

Eric contacted Duncan Watson at the Keene Recycling Station and we’re back on the list for hazardous waste disposal.

Eric received a bill from the Harris Center for the coming year – a Harris Center instructor will give presentations, etc. at Gilsum School.

Roger received a response from Elm Tree Research concerning our two dead elms.  One tree (in the cemetery) had died from Dutch Elm disease.  The other was in the town hall driveway circle and that had no signs of the disease.  We will receive a replacement tree for the one that had Dutch Elm.

An emerald ash borer has recently been found in Massachusetts.  The beetle, which has devastated white ash in the mid-west has been moving eastward.

The cut on the Town Farm is either done or close to being done.  More on this at the next meeting.

November 3 is the annual meeting of NH Conservation Commissions.  If anyone is interested, let Eric know ASAP.

DES approval has been received for the replacement (including dredge and fill) of the Ferry Brook Road bridge that was washed out in the May flooding.  The permit is good from Sept. 2012 through Sept. 2017.

Snowmobilers want to get the trails on the Piper lot in order as they have been severely eroded.

Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
