Minutes of September 21, 2010

Present:  Elise Kuder, Christa Patterson, Roger Sweet, Eric White, Hilliare Wilder and Becky Cummings.

Minutes of the August meeting were accepted as read.

A correction was made to the June minutes.  Bob Switzer did not participate in the town line perambulation.

Roger and Eric met with Trustees of Trust Funds, Barbara Atwood and Henry (Butch) Brooks before the meeting to discuss forestry work on the Town Farm.  The two groups hope to meet with the selectmen on Monday, Sept. 27th.

Thanks was given to Roger Sweet, Dick Smith, Hilliare Wilder and Eric White for their work in Jewett Park on Saturday.  Brush was cut and cleaned up and a hole in one of the canopies repaired.

Trail work on the Town Farm is scheduled for Oct. 16th.

The Monadnock Farm and Community Connection (part of Cheshire County Conservation) is working to organize agricultural commissions in the area.  They would like to meet with local conservation commissions and townspeople interested in agriculture.  Eric will set up something with them in the future and Christa will invite people in town who raise animals, garden extensively and produce maple syrup.  A blanket invitation will go out to all townspeople via the newsletter.

Jeff Littleton of Moosewood Ecological will be a guest speaker at the Oct. 12th conservation meeting to discuss Sullivan’s Natural Resource Inventory (NRI).  This will include information on how the NRI can be used by the town and where the Conservation Commission should continue its efforts, making it a more complete document for the town.  It is hoped members of the planning board and selectmen can be there as well as interested townspeople.
Copies of the NRI are available for sale to commission members and the general public for $20.  A copy is also available at the Sullivan Library.

AVEO (Ashuelot Valley Environmental Observatory) has joined forces with the Harris Center for Conservation Education.

Meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Cummings
