Minutes of December 7, 2005

Chairman Steve Hamilton called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Present in addition to the chairman were members Michelle Degree, Joe Fitzpatrick, Geoff Gardner, Dave Jakway, Ann Sweet, and Bob Switzer. Rick Hotchkiss represented the selectmen. Also present was Dick Labadie, selectman.

Minutes of the meeting of November 2, 2005, were approved as distributed.

Driveway permit for Riesenberg property on Old Concord Road
Tom Flavin, surveyor, introduced Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Riesenberg, who own 200 acres off the Old Concord Road. About 34 acres of the property is in Sullivan, the remainder in Nelson. Their son owns the 13+ acres with frontage on Old Concord Road, but Mr. and Mrs. Riesenberg have a right of way through their son's piece for a driveway. Although they must seek permission from Nelson to build, they were given the Sullivan driveway regulations and application. Should Nelson allow a subdivision, Sullivan must be notified by the Nelson Planning Board, since any building using the driveway might have impact on Sullivan's Old Concord Road.

No change for the coming fiscal year.

Chairman Hamilton thanked Geoff Gardner and Bob Switzer for acting as chairmen for the two meetings Mr. Hamilton had to be absent.

Flood plain ordinance
Chairman Hamilton passed on to Selectman Hotchkiss notification from FEMA that the town must change the language of its flood plain ordinance at the next town election.

Sale of the old town hall at auction.
Ms. Degree expressed disappointment that she had not known in advance about the foreclosure. She would like to start a cafe there or have the town set up a community center there. Mr. Hotchkiss pointed to the availability of space in the current town hall basement for community activities.

Village store
Septic and water quality issues may need to be resolved.

FEMA reimbursement expected for road repairs.
Mr. Hotchkiss reported that reimbursements from FEMA (75%) and State (12.5%) are expected.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Sweet, Secretary
