Minutes of June 1, 2011

Chairman Bob Switzer called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.  Present, in addition to the chairman, were members  Michelle Degree,  Dave Jakway, Laura Lewandowski, Mark Smith, and Ann Sweet.  Absent was John Little.  There was no selectmen‘s representative.

Minutes of the meeting of May 4, 2011, were approved as distributed.

Chairman Switzer asked members for any observations or comments, since there was no formal business scheduled.

Laura Lewandowski commented that there had been no selectmen’s representative in many months.

Michelle Degree suggested that the town should establish the office of ombudsman so that one neutral person might attend the meetings of all town boards to listen to their discussions and to clear up any possible misinterpretation of one committee’s actions by another.  Ms. Degree thought there might be examples of ombudsmen in other NH communities.

Michelle Degree also asked about the glycol to be used in the efficient boiler planned for the highway garage, fearing that the glycol might pit the tubing, create leaks, and then ruin the boiler, causing great town expense.  Mrs. Sweet pointed out that Rick Hotchkiss had had considerable experience with glycol and was working on boiler specifications for the RFP that would prevent such deterioration.

Ann Sweet reported that the town of Brookline has created an energy chapter for its master plan which could be, along with the samples sent to the master plan committee, used as a model for Sullivan.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Sweet, Secretary
