Minutes of May 5, 2004

Chairman Steve Hamilton called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. Present in addition to the chairman were Joe Fitzpatrick, Geoff Gardner, Dave Jakway, Ann Sweet, and Bob Switzer. Rick Hotchkiss represented the selectmen. Dave Jakway was named to the seat of the absent Don Primrose.

Minutes of the meeting of April 7, 2004, were accepted as distributed.

Master Plan update
Mrs. Sweet reported that Bob Switzer, as promised in the May newsletter, will have shortly posted all the draft chapters on the town's website. Newsletter readers were asked to review the drafts and to come to a meeting on Wednesday, June 16, at 7 p.m. to discuss any changes they might suggest.

Brownfields
Town officials have been asked to identify any local brownfields for inclusion in an assessment of the region's brownfields being conducted by the Southwest Region Planning Commission. No one could think of any brownfields, although several people wondered about the soils of town junkyards.

Building permit application
The selectmen have approved the revisions to the building permit application (mostly to alert applicants to the need to keep the required setbacks from wetlands) and will be issuing a new form shortly. Mr. Switzer will put the form on the website for downloading.

Town website
Mr. Switzer reported on his expansion of offerings on the town website, including aerial photos of Bolster Pond and town center buildings reached by links he has established.

Apartment on Centre St.
Mr. Hotchkiss will be measuring the dimensions of the lot of the old Sullivan Men's Club to see whether the apartment fits within the lot or whether the owner must apply for a lot line adjustment.

Atwood/Martin pins
Chairman Hamilton reported that, following the melting of the snow, he had found the two pins formerly obscured. That completes the subdivision requirements for that property.

Town roadside cleanup
Mrs. Sweet described the marvelous cleansing of particularly trashy roadsides in town by 51 cheerful volunteers on May 1. She remarked on the good fellowship at the lunch following.

May 15 hike through Sullivan
Mrs. Sweet invited everyone to an upcoming hike from Bear Den State Park on Route 10 through protected land (including Stockwell, Piper Forest, and Olsen Forest).

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Sweet, Secretary
