Minutes of May 7, 2008

Chairman Steve Hamilton called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Present were members Michelle Degree, Keith Martin, Ann Sweet, and Bob Switzer. Absent were Joe Fitzpatrick and Dave Jakway. Rick Hotchkiss was not there to represent the selectmen.

Minutes of the meeting of April 2, 2008, were accepted as distributed.

Dean subdivision boundary walk (postponed because of deep snow)
Chairman Hamilton will ask the Deans whether May 14 or 16 in the evening will be convenient.

Discussion of unresolved issues
Planning board members reviewed issues with which the board had in some way been involved but that needed resolution or enforcement by the selectmen:

A&L Trucking: failure to comply with the requirements of the ZBA rulings.

Ed Csenge & Sons: failure to seek site plan approval for a new business.

Kinson gravel: failure to report annual excavations or to close and rehabilitate site.

Paquette wood business: failure to comply with Cease and Desist.

Members also talked about properties that seem to be evolving into unlicensed junk yards and wondered how best to encourage property owners to comply with the vehicle registration laws and clean up their properties. The current prices for scrap metal make it easy to dispose of junk cars. It was decided to draft a letter to the selectmen asking for a status report on the unresolved issues noted above and to prepare an article for the July/August newsletter reminding property owners about regulations regarding storing unregistered vehicles and alerting them to the high prices for scrap metal.

Revision of the subdivision regulations
When all questions have been answered, we can set a hearing.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Sweet, Secretary
