Minutes of Oct. 5, 2011

SULLIVAN PLANNING BOARD
Minutes of the Meeting of
October 5, 2011

Chairman Bob Switzer called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.  Present, in addition to the chairman, were members  Michelle Degree, Dave Jakway, Laura Lewandowski, John Little, and Ann Sweet.  Absent was Mark Smith.  There was no selectmen‘s representative.

Minutes of the meeting of September 7, 2011, were accepted as distributed.

Driveway permit application
Chairman Switzer presented a completed application by Dan Ketola for a driveway on Centre Street just west of the old cemetery on a lot of 5+ acres.  He also circulated the State approval of the driveway.  The chairman, Dave Jakway, and the road agent had walked over the property, determined that the sight in either direction is more than adequate, and saw no wet areas.  A culvert, required by the state, will be constructed at the Centre Street end of the driveway.  Following discussion, a motion to approve the application of Mr. Ketola passed without dissent.

Member comments/reports
Mrs. Sweet asked whether the results of the survey for the Master Plan would be reported in the next newsletter.  The chairman said they would be.
Mrs.  Sweet reported that there had been only one proposal for the efficient wood boiler for the highway garage.  A contract between the town and the construction company is being worked out by the chairman of the board of selectmen.
Ms. Degree asked to have printed in the newsletter perhaps twice a year reminders about property setbacks, inviolability of property line stone walls, respect for trees and other vegetation on neighboring property.  She urged that people be reminded to check their deeds before taking action on their properties, which may not be as extensive as they imagine.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Sweet, Secretary
