Town of Sullivan, N.H. Board of Selectmen

Approved Meeting Minutes Draft

July 16, 2012 – 7:30 PM

Sullivan Town Hall

Board members present: Mark Paquette, Gary Patnode

Department heads present: Randall Smith, Karl Wheeler

Also present: Kathleen Fernandes, Karen Luebkeman

A. CALL TO ORDER: Mark Paquette called the meeting to order at 7:30PM

Kathleen Fernandes appeared before the Selectmen to discuss what was going on at her new property located on Gilsum Road. They will be taking two acres out of current use to satisfy the requirement for a building lot. Ms. Fernandes reported that they have dug a well and are in the process of getting a septic design done by Dale Freihofer of Swanzey, New Hampshire.

Selectman Mark Paquette questioned the fact that a well had been dug prior to the septic design being completed as the well has setback requirements as to where it can be placed in relationship to the septic system.. Ms. Fernandes replied that if they had to dig another one that they would do so. Ms. Fernandes was advised that her building permit application could not be submitted at this time as she needed to have her septic design in order to do so. Also, information regarding the building’s location showing setbacks from property lines would also need to be provided. Ms. Fernandez mentioned the need for a physical address for the property. The administrative assistant will contact 911 for this to be handled.

C. Department Heads:

Police Chief Wheeler advised that Tom Blake is unhappy that he has been visited because of the target shooting that is taking place at his property.

The Sullivan Police Department responded to a domestic dispute.

Randy Smith will need to replace the compressor tank as the State of New Hampshire inspection has determined it has not passed inspection and is not in good enough condition to repair.

Randy shared with the Selectmen that repairs made by a property owner to

fix damage related to the May 29th storm has resulted in a water bar being blocked and how should he proceed/handle the situation. It has been decided that Randy will speak to the property owner when he has the opportunity about returning it to its "pre-storm" condition.

D. Selectmen’s Business:

The Selectmen took this opportunity to discuss with Police Chief Wheeler the need to aggressively manage department budgets in light of the May 29th storm damage which will result in the Town of Sullivan picking up part of the repair costs not covered by FEMA.

General business including the approving of payroll and vendor payments, review of invoices and PO’s were addressed.

Meeting Minutes for July 9th, 2012 were approved.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:45PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Karen B. Luebkeman,

Administrative Assistant, Town of Sullivan
