It was discovered on Friday that an excavation operation was in progress on their property located on Corey Mine Rd. The LaVantures were denied a special exception for excavation permit from the Planning Board in 2008, and therefore, are unable to get the necessary Excavation Permit from the Zoning Board of Adjustment. A represenative from the NH Department of Revenue Administration will visit the site later this week and will hopefully advise on how to proceed (the land is in current use which presents additional problems). Dennis and Elsie LaVanture were present. There was a discussion between the Selectmen and the LaVantures. They thought that they could remove 1000 yards of sand per year. They do not want to operate a sand pit. They thought that they were not doing anything wrong. They will call Fawn for the necessary paper work.
