Meeting Minutes of June 22, 2009

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.

Selectmen Present: Cheryl Labadie, Bob Thayer, and Mark Paquette.

Payroll and bills were approved.

City officials present: Randy Smith, Hwy Dept. Randy has been working on the ice storm debris. Randy has submitted a purchase order for excavating Mowing on the sides of the roads. It has been three years since it has been done. There was a discussion about Martin Rd. extension. Randy would like to keep that accessible.

Meeting Minutes, Cheryl has made a motion to approve the minutes, Bob seconded it.

Fawn will get budgets together for Cheryl and Mark to go over.

There was a discussion about the Library Door. Mark will get three estimates. The door needs to be up to code. It will need to have a push bar.

Purchase order for approval for Downeast Signs for the Police Department for the lettering and stripes for the Ford Explorer.

Abatements (refunds) issued, checks are with the bills this week. This is based on the recommendations from Avitar. There is one abatement application that is still waiting a recommendation from Avitar; it should be done by the end of the week.

Fawn spoke with Sean Greene from Avitar about the abatement request from Rob Gray. He took a copy of the application and letter to review. Although Rob did miss the application deadline, Sean feels that Avitar made the error. He will consult with staff and respond later this week.

Fawn has been reviewing the veteran’s credit applications as part of the assessment review process. Letters will be sent to those who receive the credit to certify that they are still residents of Sullivan. Letters and newly completed applications will be sent to surviving spouses for their signatures; although they remain qualified for the credit, the application needs to be in their name instead of the deceased spouse.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Heidi Bobeen
