Town of Sullivan, N.H. Board of Selectmen Approved Meeting Minutes October 31, 2011 – 7:30 PM Sullivan Town Hall
Board members present: Bob Thayer, Mark Paquette
Department heads present: Randy Smith
Also present: Karen Luebkeman, Administrative Assistant
A. CALL TO ORDER: Bob Thayer opened the meeting at 7:33
B. CITIZEN’S DISCUSSION:
Dan Ketola brought in paperwork for building permits.
John Jay Prior and Jennifer Labadie, members of the School Committee
attended the Selectmen’s Meeting for the purpose of updating the board
on the information they had compiled regarding options for Sullivan students.
Options range from continuing with MSRD; withdrawing and forming a new
school district with Gilsum; sending to students to Harrisville for elementary education and to Keene for Junior and Senior High School, or sending Sullivan
students to Keene for Elementary, Junior and Senior High School.
The committee does not feel that Sullivan students are receiving a quality
education at MSRD, but based on information that has been compiled to date
the three alternatives available would point to an increased cost for the Town.
Richard Hotchkiss requested that the committee continue to look at the projected
costs for the three options to develop a more accurate figure and to create a report that would be used to make this information available to the citizens of Sullivan in order to allow the Town to decide on how to proceed.
C. ADJOURNMENT:
Meeting was adjourned by agreement at 9:35 PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
Karen B. Luebkeman,
Administrative Assistant, Town of Sullivan
