Christmas Craft Fair and Santa Day

The Christmas Craft Fair sponsored by the Sullivan Library will be on Nov. 10. If you are interested in having a table, contact Gaynelle Pratt at 847-3271.

Santa Day will be December 1. New and like new, gently used gift items are needed for all ages – kids, moms&dads, grandparents and so on. Drop them off at the library or call Gaynelle Pratt to have them picked up.

St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble Returns to Sullivan

The St. Petersburg Men’s Ensemble, from St. Petersburg, Russia, an independent group founded in 2003 returns for another concert here at the Sullivan Congregational Church on Monday, Dec. 3 at 7:00 pm.

Their repertoire of Russian traditional music is as engaging and varied as their sincere, warm, humorous and talented personalities! For a sneak preview, they have many of their songs on YouTube, but it’s always better in person!

Admission is free although a free will offering for the ensemble will be taken at intermission. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

Take a Hike!

Sullivan and the area has some great places to hike. The Piper Memorial Forest on Gilsum Road and the Otter Brook Preserve off Bowlder Road are both protected forestlands for your enjoyment. News from the Board of Selectmen

Town Assessor: The Town contracts with Avitar Associates for assessing services. Avitar representatives are in cars clearly marked with the business name on the side and they carry picture identification displayed on a lanyard. There have been reports about someone impersonating the assessor. If you have any questions or concerns about an Avitar representative visiting your property please call the Town Hall at 847-3316 10am-2pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or the Cheshire County Sheriff’s department at 355-2000.

Please note that the Sullivan Public Library Board of Trustees has moved its meeting time to 3:30 PM.

The Sullivan Public Library Board of Trustees will hold their monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 3:30 PM at the library. The purpose of the meetings will be to formally receive any donations, hear reports and conduct any business related to the administration of the library. As always, the public is welcome.

Stop by the Selectmen’s Office and ask to see a copy of your property record card. Check the description of your property. Is it correct? Are the measurements correct? You can ask for a copy of the card and take it home to double check the information.

Sullivan Zoning Board has a Vacancy

The Sullivan ZBA has a vacancy. The Board does not meet on a regular basis but as needed to hear appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official and administers special provisions in the ordinance dealing with variances and special exceptions. This would be a good learning experience for anyone interested in town affairs. Individuals must be detail oriented. For more information call Mary Hull at 847-3316 or 847-9718.

As a public notice of information, NHDES recommends testing of all water wells being used for drinking. The test would determine if there is any arsenic in your water. This is not a cause for concern, but it is a good practice to test any wells being used for consumption.
